The village board of New Berlin has invested into it's community and brought high speed fiber internet to our village. This is a service now available to all residents and businesses inside the village limits.

In July 2022, the Village Board approved the purchase of all the equipment and the beginning of the installation of fiber high speed internet throughout the village limits. The village of New Berlin will be supplying the internet to your house. Your internet bill will be added to your existing water bill. If you do not have a water bill, you will be signed up and receive a bill each month through the village, similar to the water & sewer bill.
No, the village will be providing each home with a modem. The cost of the modem is included in your $150 initial set up charge. If you need to replace a modem, you may be subject to a charge to cover the replacement modem.
It depends. You have the choice of a wired only modem or a Wireless/wired modem. The modem supplied by the village can have wireless capabilities. Most people already have a wireless network set up. A wireless mesh network can be installed for an additional charge.
Yes. Fiber has been used for 40+ years in the industry and is a very trustworthy and reliable means of supplying internet. It is impossible to say that outages will never happen, but with fiber, the most common cause of outages is because someone dug and cut a line. Always call Julie at 811 before you dig. The village of New Berlin has a wireless back up link to Springfield in the event that a main fiber line gets cut.
The 1 GIG residential plan, currently at $125/month is Guaranteed for the life your service. If service plan prices have to increase in the future, you will be locked in at the guaranteed rate. All other plans are subject to price increases.
The installation fee covers your modem and the initial installation of service to your residence. The village will connect your house to the fiber located at the street. A technician will need to enter your house to connect the internet to your modem inside your house. The village must call Julie to mark your property before we do our install.
No. You do not have to have a router in addition to the modem supplied by the village. However, if you are wanting to be able to control your devices with an app, or have more control of your network, it is recommended that you buy your own router to control your network.
No. You will need to use the modem that is provided by the village. You can, however, use your own router in your house. But a modem will need to be installed by the village.
Yes. A technician will need to connect the service to your modem inside your house. It is also a good idea to discuss with the technician where your current internet may enter your house. If we can supply our service in the same area, it will be easier for everyone.
Yes. Berlin residents will be able to call the village of New Berlin to sign up for internet. New Berlin did not pay for Berlin's infrastructure. Our goal is Spring of 2023 for service in Berlin.
